This section contains the instructions and guidance for running club series and mini-regatta races at the Loch of Skene and at Stonehaven. Sailing instructions for the annual open regatta regatta are listed separately in the "Open regata" section of this website.  The Skene sailing programme comprises series racing on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, the traditional trophy events will be held, with 2 of these weekend events doubling as Mini Monthly Regattas.  The Stonehaven sailing programme comprises Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays and a Monthly Mini Regatta each month.  Series racing at Skene will usually be run with a Committee Boat start. Stonehaven series racies will typically be run with Shore Based starts. However, the OOD is encouraged to use CSYC or a RIB to give a committee boat start whenever possible to provide better starts and windward legs etc.  Â
It is intended that the Monthly Mini Regattas will be run with Committee Boat Starts at both Skene and Stonehaven to ensure that a windward start can be laid. To facilitate this at Stonehaven the regattas have been scheduled at favourable tide times to allow for use of CSYC as the committee boat. This means that Stonehaven Monthly Mini Regattas are not necessarily scheduled at regular 4 week intervals. In the event that the Monthly Mini Regatta cannot be run with a Committee Boat Start at either Skene or, more likely, Stonehaven (eg weather too rough to use CSYC) then Shore Based Starts should be used.  Rescue duties are scheduled for Saturdays during June and July at Stonehaven to allow for cruising, practising and training. Saturday Series Racing at Stonehaven will run during August and September.
