Aberdeen and Stonehaven Yacht Club (ASYC) is based in the northeast of Scotland. Dinghy sailors make up most of the membership, though there is a small cruising section with moorings in the tidal harbour at Stonehaven. The club provides dinghy sailing opportunities at both inland and open sea venues during the year. From March to the end of May the club sails on the freshwater Loch of Skene, 10 miles west of Aberdeen. At the beginning of June the club's activities move to the more challenging North Sea coastal waters at Stonehaven, 15 miles south of Aberdeen, where sailing takes place until mid-November. At Loch of Skene the club has the use of a gothic-style gate-house for Dunecht Estates, but the main clubhouse and boat parks are located on the harbour front at Stonehaven. Rescue cover is provided at both venues by club-owned RIB's, and the club runs RYA training courses in powerboat handling, and operates a junior training programme. Some recent highlights of club activities are listed below, but please browse the site for more information.

ASYC Junior Summer Sailing Camp |
|
|
Wednesday, 17 June 2009 19:53 |
|

The first ASYC Summer Camp for juniors is scheduled for the weekend of 25/26th July, from 10am - 4pm each day. If you are around and interested for your kids to join in then please register.... As promised, there will be no cost, though we will need a parent or responsible adult for each participating child to be present on at least either Saturday or Sunday to lend a hand, as we need rescue boat drivers, beach masters, chefs to man the galley and much more.
The plan is to do a whole heap of games, maybe visit Dunnottar Castle (with the RIBs) and look at the birds plus maybe do a couple of races (all subject to change and imagination, as well as the ever changing weather). If the weather is howling then we'll visit the Outdoor Pool and think of things to do in the harbour.
The event will be organised by Victoria with help by Ditta, though any more help and thoughts are greatly welcome.
The summer camp is open to ALL ASYC children, regardless of whether they took part in the teaching programme at Loch of Skene. However, it is (so far) not open to non-members of the club.
So, roll up and register. I'm sure fun will be had by all. Yours Ditta
